Comprehensive Financial planning
We believe financial planning is the foundation of a successful investment program. Just like a strong foundation supports a large building for generations, an accurate and current financial plan can support an investment strategy that lasts for future generations. We prefer to meet you in person. We want you to get to know us, and we want to know you. This is important so we can have a candid discussion regarding your family and your goals, dreams, and expectations relative to your concerns and fears regarding risk, healthcare costs, securing lifetime income, or any other issues. A deep understanding is essential to creating a tailored individual plan and making valid recommendations. We employ sophisticated tools in developing your individual financial plan. We can also provide you with online access to your plan to run your own stress tests if desired. Most important, we will update the analysis for you at least annually, or when needed due to a life change, to keep it accurate and current. In certain circumstances, we may provide financial planning and consulting services as a stand-alone service for a fee. The fees and scope of this engagement can be discussed and will be clearly outlined and documented in writing.
Private Portfolio Management
We recognize that every investor has unique constraints and variables that will affect their investment decisions—and one size does not fit all. Therefore, we will tailor our portfolio recommendations based on your situation, the completed financial planning analysis, and Modern Portfolio theory. Formation Wealth Management favors low-cost investments such as exchange traded funds, individual blue chip stocks, individual bonds, and no load mutual funds. We want your investment experience with us to be similar to the experience of taking a first class airline trip. You select the destination and we take care of the rest. We will study the route, create an optimized flight plan, and make adjustments inflight for turbulence or unexpected hazards so that you can get on to your destination as smoothly and comfortably as possible.
Retirement Income Analysis
One of the greatest fears people have regarding retirement is not having enough income in retirement, or running out of money during retirement. We will address this fear head on in the comprehensive financial planning work we do for you. If it remains a concern, we can explore strategies with you that can include a minimum level of fixed returns while still providing liquidity in your overall portfolio.
Risk Management
Risk management is a critical aspect of a proper wealth management strategy. Investing in securities involves risk of loss that you should be prepared to bear. But beyond investment loss, there are many additional risks that have the potential to upset the best laid investment strategy. These risks can result in additional financial loss, delayed retirement, lifestyle reduction in retirement, or other negative outcomes. We will review your risk exposures and provide recommendations on any gaps to help you address those dangers.
Trust and Estate Coordination
Account titling, beneficiary designations, wills, trusts, and other important personal documents, as well as wealth transfer and charitable giving, are all important aspects of a wealth management strategy. We can help you prioritize your objectives to implement a plan that provides for your loved ones and minimizes unwanted tax obligations. We always recommend consulting an estate planning attorney for legal advice and document preparation. We are not a law firm and we do not give legal or accounting advice.
