About Maximilian Neumayer
Max’s professional career is about service. Over twenty years of military service and twenty years of financial service experience have resulted in a distinctive blend of skills and traits that are hard to find in today’s financial services marketplace. Most important among these is an unwavering commitment to the highest ethical standards.
The desire to continue serving families to help them meet their financial goals through a process of personal face-to-face interaction, supported by his unique skillset and business acumen, have led Max to found Formation Wealth Management.
After graduating from the United States Air Force Academy and completing flight training, Max served ten years on active duty as an Air Force Officer and Pilot. During his time in the Air Force, Max was stationed in Colorado, Texas, California, and Illinois. He has flown missions to and performed duties throughout Central and South America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and Asia.
After separating from active duty in 2000, Max continued to serve in the United States Air Force Reserve, accumulating over 4,000 flight hours as a Command Pilot. In addition, he served for three years as a founding member of the Investment Advisory Committee of the Department of Defense Investment Board. He provided strategic direction to the Investment Board managing approximately $828 billion, as of August 2013, in DoD Trust Funds. He participated in a comprehensive review of US Treasury and DoD investment policies, which resulted in completely re-writing the Investment Policy Statement and operating guidelines for investment of the trust funds.
Max began his career serving individual investors in 2001. It was his desire to continue his post-military career in a profession that served people and combined his interests in financial planning and analysis, capital markets, and investment theory. Max has served clients in corporate finance and wealth management for Deutsche Bank Securities, Morgan Stanley & Co., and USAA. He has guided clients through many challenging market cycles, including the NASDAQ information technology bubble and the recent Great Recession financial crisis.
Max has maintained a lifelong commitment to education and continued learning. He has earned degrees from top-tier institutions, including a Bachelor of Science from the United States Air Force Academy and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the Olin School of Business at Washington University in St Louis. Max also holds a Master of Arts in National Security Studies from California State University, San Bernardino.
